Welcome

Mary Schiavo is available to share her insight and to discuss the responsibility that airlines and manufacturers have to provide adequate training, safe equipment, and clear guidelines to safely operate in challenging weather conditions, including icing.

Schiavo has represented passengers and crew of numerous U.S. aviation incidents, in addition to both passengers and pilots on private or charter planes. She has years of experience handling high-profile complex aviation litigation, including the more than 50 cases filed on behalf of 9/11 victims’ family members, and has litigated or investigated a variety of other aviation cases involving such airlines as US Airways, American Airlines, Colgan Air, Delta and Northwest Airlines.

She is the author of Flying Blind, Flying Safe, a New York Times bestseller that was featured in Time magazine for exposing the poor safety and security practices of the airlines and the failures of the federal government to properly regulate the aviation industry. Schiavo also wrote the introduction to In the Wake of the Storm (2008), a book authored by the sister of a Flight 4184 victim that addresses the aftermath of the aviation disaster, and contributed to Aviation Security Management (Volume One, 2008), and Supply Chain Security: International Practices and Innovations in Moving Goods Safely and Efficiently (Volume One and Two, 2010).

Schiavo is the recipient of numerous awards and accolades and has been named to the 2010-16 editions of The Best Lawyers in America® for her work in mass tort litigation. She is licensed to practice law in Washington D.C., Florida, Maryland, Missouri and South Carolina.
